π₯³π₯#30DaysOfHTML is 1 year old!π₯π₯³
Time for a refresher of 57 semantic HTML elements (and a few attributes) that will show you just how much youβre overusing <div>? On April 1, 2021, Erika Lee and I sent one email a day for 30 days discussing all kinds of HTML elements you didnβt know about, you forgot it existed, or oh wow - it totally changed from the last time you heard about it.
In honor of this anniversary, please follow me on Twitter to get a tweet to each dayβs material in the month of April. Practice your skills on CodePen and get feedback, too!
π What do YOU want to learn? π
Iβm gearing up to teach inheritance, specificity, and the cascade at LinkedIn Learning and Selectors & Semantics at Frontend Masters in the next few months. What are you confused about?
Iβve also released three new courses this year at LinkedIn Learning. Learning Bubble and Joomla 4 Essential Training are available now. Watch for an upcoming course on Zapier and more to follow in code and no-code land!
π©π»βπ« NEW: Intro to Web Design and Development π·
Wondering if web design and development is for you, or know someone whoβs considering this career path? Check out my new LinkedIn Learning video βIntro to Web Design and Development.β
It was filmed in my dining room during the pandemic, with the recording team located 3000 miles/4800 km and three time zones away on the other side of the United States. I set up the camera, lights, and scenery, in addition to writing scripts with my fantastic longtime producer, Stephanie Gerald. The California team controlled the camera settings and filming via Zoom. Itβs amazing what we can do with remote technology!
Curious about the process of setting up the staging for this? I blogged about it here:
π₯ New YouTube videos: Absolute and relative positioning π₯
Absolute and relative positioning are weird and hard. Hereβs some explanations that hopefully make them easier, with CodePens for you to explore.
Have a topic youβd like me to cover in a future YouTube video? Let me know!
π FREE course at Frontend Masters! π
My new course, βGetting Started with CSS,β is available for FREE at Frontend Masters for a limited time. Style text, images, navigation, headers, footers, and more, learning techniques that will carry into future CSS work.
The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive from newbies and experienced developers. Need to get that portfolio done? Hereβs a course that will get your portfolio finished while teaching CSS! What could possibly be better?
